The Executive Committee provides strategic leadership for the overall programme, participant experience and event innovation, and aligns the conference with SBE objectives. It oversees logistics, budget, partnerships, communications, publications and reporting, manages risks and coordinates the scientific review process.
Conference Co-Chairs
Wei Yang
Wei Yang is a professor and vice dean at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University, and Deputy Head of the Tianjin Key Laboratory of Building Energy and Environment. She leads the research team “Building Design, Construction and Operation toward Carbon Neutrality”. Her research focuses on building life-cycle assessment and design and the sustainable renewal of existing building stock. Her academic service includes the UIA Sustainable Development Commission and IEA EBC Annex 72 and Annex 89.
Gang Liu
Gang Liu is a tenured professor at Peking University, a Changjiang Scholar Chair Professor and a joint professor at the Institute of Carbon Neutrality. He was educated at Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. His research addresses industrial ecology, socio-economic metabolism, resource flow analysis, urban environmental systems and carbon neutrality. Professor Liu has held leadership roles in the International Society for Industrial Ecology, served as co-chief editor of the Journal of Industrial Ecology, and has been appointed Chair of the 2026 and 2028 Gordon Research Conferences on Industrial Ecology.
